Hopefully, I can resist the urge on this one...for a while. ;)
Well, if what you want is a lot of stockinette socks very quickly, it's the way to go. But if you like knitting socks, or knitting more complicated patterns, then I'd say it would not be worth it.
Personally, I like knitting socks as much as and possibly more than wearing them. Especially in August!
Well...I do love the stockinette socks. But, it seems there is a way to do patterning (not sure about cables) using a machine. Check it out: http://www.countryrain.com/Patterns.htm
